The Fall River police, with the assistance of the Central Falls police, have arrested a man and woman in connection with the shooting Thursday of a 17-year-old boy from Central Falls.
Jeremy Palma was playing basketball with his 13-year-old brother in front of his house on Fuller Avenue just before 2 a.m. when a car drove up, there was an argument about a pit bull, and Palma was shot in the thigh by Jesse Robertson, of Fall River, according to the police. Palma was treated and released from Rhode Island Hospital.
The police arrested Robertson, 31, of Flint Street, in Fall River, according to Central Falls Police Chief Joseph P. Moran III. Samantha O'Shea, 23, of Doyle Street in Fall River was also arrested, he said.
Robertson and O'Shea were arraigned Friday in Fall River District Court. Robertson was arraigned on a charge of possession of cocaine and on a charge of being a fugitive in connection with the shooting. O'Shea was arraigned on charges of intimidating a witness, false report of a motor vehicle theft, possession of marijuana, and being a fugitive from justice in connection with the shooting. Both were ordered held without bail, pending a pretrial hearing Aug. 14.
The City of Central Falls imposed a curfew three months ago for people under 18 after two teenagers were killed in April.
Moran said the police in Central Falls plan to file charges against Robertson and O'Shea, including assault with a dangerous weapon and shooting a gun in a compact area.
