Carver man faces attempted murder charge after allegedly firing shots at wife with a handgun

CARVER -
A Carver man has been charged with attempted mur der after he allegedly fired several shots at his wife with a handgun.
David G. Piper Jr., 51, of Cran berry Road surrendered himself at Wareham District Court Wednes day after police obtained an arrest warrant based on charges stem ming from a complaint made by Piper's wife, police said.
Police said that on July 5, after an argument, Piper chased his wife around their Cranberry Road yard with a handgun and fired several shots at her.
She was not struck by any of the shots, police said.
Piper was also charged in con nection in a previously unreported domestic assault in which his wife told police that he struck her with a glass match holder, causing a head injury.
Police said Piper's charges in cluded attempted murder, assault to murder while armed with a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault and battery.
Police said Piper was being held at the Plymouth County jail pend ing a dangerousness hearing that was scheduled for Friday in Ware ham District Court.
