(New Haven-WTNH, Dec. 25, 2006 5:53 PM) _ The search is on for a tuxedo-wearing carjacker who robbed a retired New Haven police officer.
    • by News Channel 8's Jamie Muro
Otha Buffalo, a retired well-respected New Haven detective, told News Channel 8 that as he pulled into a gas station at the corner of Woodward and Forbes Avenue to get his morning paper a man wearing a tuxedo with a red bow-tie, jumped into his car.
A struggle ensued and a round went off from a gun before the thief got away.
Buffalo was not seriously hurt, although he says he did have a slight cut on his thumb which he believes happened during the struggle.
Police are looking for a while male, about 5'7" and weighing 145 pounds. He is 38 to 40 years old, with glasses and brown hair.
The car also needs to be located. Mr. Buffalo's car is a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am. It's a burgundy colored four-door sedan. The license plate number is 557-UGX.
    This happened around 7:15 a.m.
If you have any information about the suspect or the car, please call the New Haven police department.
