we have a member well known for his FUCK SSPO stance. I say, FUCK DEAN! Unless the president who FIRED the PD is gone, I would never apply to that place. You could never be sure you'd have a job. That was the SECOND time the PD was disbanded. Keep that in mind, anyone thinking of applying.

Job Description:
To provide law campus safety related services for both the protection of Dean College property and members of the Dean Community in unison with the department's mission to provide a comprehensive program of services to help ensure the campus remains a safe environment.
Job Duties
Responsibilities include:
  • Patrol campus buildings and grounds to deter crime, prevent theft, vandalism and other violations college policy
  • Respond to and document all calls for service and violations of college code of conduct and violations of state laws.
  • Refer incidents to the Office of Student Conduct for disciplinary action, when appropriate, provide direction and information to campus community.
  • Assist with educational programming and training community members based upon the needs or current trends on campus.
  • Provide transportation services including campus safety escorts (walking or vehicle), non-emergency medical transports to area medical facilities and other transportation duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned which are necessary to enhance the safety of the campus.
Managerial and Supervisory Responsibilities
  • The ability to and assist sworn police personnel within their designated shift duties.
  • The ability to oversee, manage and assist students in their work study or internship responsibilities.
  • The ability to, upon identifying a potential problematic issue, report to their direct supervisor in a timely fashion.

Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice (or related field).
  • Hold and maintain an unrestricted United States driver's license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Dean College Risk Management,
  • Possesses strong human relations skills and the ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze emergency situations and develop effective solutions to handle same.
  • Extensive background check and successful completion of a physical and psychological evaluation required.

So did they bring the department to in house security instead of using old Bobby Kraft’s “team ops” security people?

Also funny how the job description says “provide law campus safety services” like they clearly used the old advertisement from the PD days, tried to backspace out “law enforcement” and missed part of it.

I believe they have one or two sworn individuals because they realize it shows the "the safety and security of their community is their highest priority" or one of the usual catchphrases that mean little in the grand scheme of things. The college obviously is aware it's good to have sworn personnel on campus, but had no problem with wiping out the department that was already in place because they had the audacity to consider unionizing. Hypocrites.

One of my children expressed interest in Dean, I told her absolutely, positively not, based on that.
