I was watching Campus PD tonight and I saw this officer with Pink Hand cuffs...WTF...I wonder if any of you girls and guys out there carry one too..lol
I think it downplays the professionalism of police. Maybe Black or Gray color for tactical purposes. Even blue. I lost a lot of close people to cancer. But once I saw the pink garbage cans that was enough for me.
Our "station cuffs" (used by the booking crew for prisoner transports to court/hospitals) are pink, just to discourage someone from walking away with them. Who really wants to carry pink handcuffs on their duty belt?
I wouldn't mind having a few pairs of these at the HQ. Put them on a guy who thinks he is a bad-ass, and take him to court. Can't look tough in pink.
I think having pink cuffs throws everything that women police officers have been trying to prove right out the window... I'd thought I'd seen it all though until I went to a training and a female officer had a pink grip on her department issued firearm. When I asked if that was her own off duty gun, she said no that she had the grip size changed on her firearm and had asked for pink because it "looked cute" Seriously?? Just what I want at a high risk call, a "cute" pink gun... ugh!
