Ledyard, CT - Three people were arrested early Saturday morning after a shooting and a stabbing at a party at 5 Wolf Ridge Gap left two victims hospitalized. Ledyard and state police were told shortly before 1 a.m. that a 17-year-old male with a torso stab wound was brought by private car to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.
Shortly thereafter, police received multiple calls from neighbors reporting gunshots at 5 Wolf Ridge Gap. Ledyard police, state police and Groton Town Police responded to the address, where they learned that a gunshot wound victim, a 21-year-old New York man, had been transported by private vehicle from there to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.
"We had such a volatile situation - shots fired - and we had a limited number of officers on duty in Ledyard," Resident State Trooper Sgt. John Rich said. "We're extremely grateful to the Groton Town Police for their response in support of our officers."
Police determined that the stabbing and shooting injuries occurred within a short time of each other at the party. Police detained several cars attempting to flee the scene and made three arrests.
James Robertson Jr., 29, of 27 Hawthorne Drive, New London, was charged with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was held at Troop E and released on a $10,000 cash bond.
Shawn Rucker, 20, of 12 Harvard Terrace, Gales Ferry, and Gilene Sablon, 20, of 204 Connecticut Ave., New London, were both charged with two counts of possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle after police said they found three knives and a BB gun in their possession. They are both being held at Troop E on $5,000 cash bonds.
Both victims were listed in stable condition at their respective hospitals.
