We are not talking about one campus being better than another anymore, now the argument is the fact that some people obviously think COLLEGE Police work is not "real" like a town cop. I work as a full time cop at a college and part time in a town and I am just as busy at the college with "real police work." Maybe your department doesnt respond to domestics, fights, drug investigations, sexual assaults, and other "real" police calls, but we do, and I know many other College PD's do, so don't generalize and say College Police work isnt like real police work!

t: mpd61 email me or give me a call about BHCC, were you able to talk to your contact there?
Are you kidding me? We respond to all the same crap. How many times can I say that? WE RESPOND TO ALL THE SAME STUFF.

That is right from your webiste and just about sums up all your duties.
University Police
One of the Department's five major offices, the University police are responsible for the protection of life and property on and within the confines of the 325 acres and 95 buildings that make up the environs of Brandeis University. The department, consisting of a chief, five sergeants, 12 police officers, two security officers, and three parking monitors, monitors the campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Headquartered in the Stoneman building, the University police provide emergency services to the Brandeis community via the most modern equipment available.
The unarmed University police patrol the campus on a regular basis and monitor closed circuit television coverage of specific public areas and parking lots. The jurisdiction of the Brandeis University Police officers includes the Main Campus, the Angleside and Charles River Road Residence Halls, property on Turner Street and Sibley Road and any other property belonging to the University. All University police officers are warranted under Chapter 22 C Section 63 of the Massachusetts General Laws after receiving formalized training in police sciences at the Massachusetts State Police Academy and/or the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council. Each officer receives further specialized training through various federal, state, and local Criminal Justice Training Centers. The department continually sponsors in-service training programs for its members to keep them abreast of the latest in medical and police science techniques.
Can you at least post the whole thing instead of pulling a Michael Moore? [-X
1)I say that being a cop in this state is a joke because you have campus cops who think they are better than other campus cops. You have town cops who think they are better than other town cops. You don't find uppity attitudes in other states like you do in Mass. Go to California for example. All the cities and towns view each other as equals, all the colleges view each other as equals. Both know their roll. I know this because I saw it first hand when I went through the San Diego hiring process. If they were not in such a financial crisis I would move there in a second over taking a job in Mass.
2)Only 6k off lol. My starting base is 2k more than your max out.
3)Do all the chapter 90 you want. The fact remains that I will still see you in line at the civil service exam with me.
4)Does carrying a gun make you more of a cop?
5) I don't plan on leaving Brandeis anytime soon unless an even higher paying job comes up. In the end it comes down to making money and living my life outside of work to the highest possible level. In the end I view all police work as a JOB and thats all. So you guys can take your elitist views and try all you want to make people feel that they are less than you. I am happy at Brandeis and you guys must be happy where you work. You have your views and I have mine. Why can't we leave it at that? You say Brandeis is not the premier campus law enforcement job. That's fine, have you worked there? My view is campus law enforcement is that it does not have a premier location. The only thing that I could say one campus could have over another is if they send you to an MPOC instead of the SSPO, the pay and how good benies are. That will not change for me no matter what you type.
Once again. I agree to disagree can you guys?
I have been trying to end this stupid battle...
