Were you called for an oral board following the test a few months ago??? Just curious cause I hadn't heard anything from them myself after that test. Good luck with it.

I interviewed their about three years ago, be
quick and concise with your ansewrs, and back it up with good hard fact. They board consisted of an LT, Capt, Sgt. officers, BU staff, as well as a Chief from the metrowest area.

BUPD's Chief runs the dept. like it was a municipality, which he is a former Chief of. His dept. has final say over anything that goes on on the BU campus. They used to butt heads with Boston an awful lot, as BU owns a lot of Mass. Ave and answers calls up and down it. They are not Boston Specials, they are their own dept and proud of what they do.

My best advice is to be honest, they will try to trip you up to see if you can think on your toes, and don't dig yourself into a hole trying to answer their questions, just answer it and be done.

Thanks for the advice, I got called from the test given this summer, I tend to babble in interviews so I'll keep it to the point. I also tend to try and crack a joke to loosen it up, I'll bet that won't go over big.

I have my oral board interview next week with BUPD, I'm not too familiar with them, their chief, etc. any tips? They're viewd as special Boston police are they not? Any help is appreciated

Believe it or not I got an 84. Not to start a S storm here but I'm a female, perhaps that's why I got a call? Just an idea, not intended to ruffle any feathers. Anyway, I am happy they called.

Hmmm very interesting. I got a 92 and didn't get a call. Nothing personal pguitard, but it makes me wonder what the rational behind that was. Probably because your very qualified, but if they are going to call whoever they want, then it makes me wonder, why even give a test?

Hey all,
I go to school at B.U. and there are a three to four B.U. cops in my classes. One is a sergeant that does the interviews. I asked him how many they are hiring and they are interviewing for about three positions right now and some more in the future. I told him I got a 93 and asked if they would be getting to my score soon. He said a 93 was one of the top scores, but B.U. is only hiring minorities and women right now so tough luck to all us white folk. He took my name and said he'd check into it, but I know he's just pulling my chain. They are only hiring minorities and women. Oh well.

I had the interview yesterday and as I was walking in another female candidate was walking out. I forgot to ask how many positions they were looking to fill. The interview was tough, honestly I tried my best so we'll see how it goes. So, someone on this post heard there are three open slots?

One of the BU Cops told me that they had around five slots open and five interviews in the last week and all of them were not selected. So I don't know what will be next. I will keep asking alot of questions to keep you guys informed.
