I live in Boston and have been seeing quite a few municipal police cars driving around. Who are these mystery municipal police? Are they a part of BPD or are they a seperate department?

Separate department. We cover all properties owned and operated by the City of Boston. There are already a few existing topics on this board explaining who we are and what we do.

It was made official sometime last year (not sure of the exact date).

The bill was passed in 1998. The classification wasn't made until May 2003.

Two Muni's just started working with Newton PD as laterals.
