Just wondering if anyone out there knows of any state or federal grants that can be used specifically for police mountain bike units, for example buying and equipping new bikes. Maybe something from the dept of homeland defense? Also, if anyone has any experiece soliciting their respective city's businesses for money for such items, how did you go about doing it?
My department has about 8 trained bike officers, 4 of which still ride (including myself). When I tell you our bikes are well over a decade old, thats not an exaggeration. The department is far too cheap to put any money into the unit, so its time to look elsewhere.
