BEDFORD, N.H. (AP) - Police say less than two months after an anesthesiologist and his wife said they were attacked in their upscale New Hampshire home by an unknown man, the wife has been found dead and the husband has been found unconscious at a relative's home.
Police found Sonia Quesada dead and Eduardo Quesada unconscious Monday when a family member called police asking them to check in on the couple. They had been staying at a Bedford condominium owned by Eduardo Quesada's mother following the Nov. 24 attack that left him severely beaten.
The family member said several attempts to contact the couple were unsuccessful, and that both hadn't shown up at appointments scheduled Monday morning. After trying unsuccessfully to reach them, police got permission from family to force their way into the condo.
Eduardo Quesada was hospitalized; his condition wasn't immediately known. An autopsy was scheduled Tuesday for Sonia Quesada.
Doc rules out foul play in N.H. death but cops silent
BEDFORD, N.H. - The state medical examiner said he has ruled out foul play in the death of a doctor's wife, whose lifeless body was found Monday with her unconscious husband in a relative's house barely a month after the couple were beaten and injured in an unsolved home invasion.
"It's not being investigated as a homicide," Dr. Thomas Andrew told the Herald about the death of Sonia Quesada, wife of anesthesiologist Eduardo W. Quesada. "Certainly there is no evidence of a traumatic cause of her death. There's no trauma."
Eduardo Quesada was found unconscious with his dead wife, and yesterday, authorities offered no explanation of what might have happened in the home. The cause and manner of Sonia Quesada's death won't be determined until toxicology test results are in, Andrew said.
