A bare-chested, drunken 20-year-old Pembroke man squared off against his brother in a 7-Eleven parking lot before punching a police officer, police said.
Police Chief Michael Ohrenberger said a call came in at 10:16 p.m. Wednesday reporting "bare-chested young men causing a disturbance on Town Landing."
Minutes later, police received a call from the 7-Eleven on Center Street reporting men of the same description fighting in the parking lot, Ohrenberger said.
"Our officers went over there and found two brothers were squared off, and they looked as though they were going to fight," he said.
Ohrenberger said one of the brothers, Keith Coulstring, told police everything was fine and he was just "messing with" his brother. But the other Coulstring brother said that Keith was drunk and had been "causing fights all night."
The officers went to separate the pair and saw that Keith Coulstring was "clearly drunk," Ohrenberger said, with bloodshot eyes and smelling of alcohol.
Keith Coulstring punched the officer in the chest, Ohrenberger said.
"The officer grabbed him to handcuff him, and he resisted," Ohrenberger said.
Coulstring was arrested about 10:30 and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
Coulstring was arraigned in Plymouth District Court Thursday. He is due back in court Sept. 23 for a pretrial hearing.
