David Goguen

Framingham Police today charged a man arrested in Ashland yesterday with robbing two banks in the past week.

David Goguen, 28, of 39 Bridges St., of Framingham, was arrested in Ashland at 4:30 p.m. after police said he tried to break into houses in the Macintosh Lane area.

Off-duty Framingham Officer Edward Burman was in the area when the arrest occurred and recognized Goguen from the surveillance camera photos taken during the Framingham Cooperative Bank robbery last Thursday and Tuesday's TD BankNorth robbery, Framingham Police Lt. Kevin Slattery said.

Slattery said Goguen was also wearing the same hat and carrying the same black messenger-type bag he had on when he robbed the Rte. 9 TD BankNorth.

Police then executed a search warrant at his Bridges Street home and found the shirt and shorts worn in the TD BankNorth robbery, the lieutenant said.

Framingham Police charged Goguen with two counts of armed robbery. Goguen never showed a gun, but claimed to have one in the notes he passed.

Ashland Police charged Goguen with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, larceny from a building, receiving stolen property worth more than $250, attempted breaking and entering and possession of tools often used in burglaries.

Goguen is scheduled to be arraigned today in Framingham District Court.
