HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a former bail bondsman will serve a year and one day in prison for helping run a Hartford-area prostitution ring.
Prosecutors say 41-year-old Ronald Martinez of Hartford also forced women to work as prostitutes in the operation to pay off bonds he posted for them.
Martinez, who ran Liberty Bail Bonds of Connecticut, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Hartford.
He pleaded guilty in 2006 to promoting prostitution, money laundering, conspiracy and related charges.
Another convicted ringleader in the prostitution business, Dennis Paris of Middletown, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison last week.
