Just curious what work through CJIS is done for an average arrest. I just want to see if it is standardized. Our department does:

Q2one
WMS1
BOP
QH, QR if QH is positive
Q5

and that is pretty much it. and locate the warrant if arrestee was bagged on a warrant. My big question is if this is pretty much a standard why not make one code to do all of this like a QBOP...just better?

Arrests in my town most have

Q2 ONE
BOP
Q5

Warrant (if they have one)
Warrant Locate

AM CC
CERTR
(If applicable)
Besides the manuals, is there anything that is all inclusive, I have never heard of a Q2 One or AM CC or CERTR? Once we had an illegal alien and called INS they told us to run an INS query. All of us were like WTF?? So we entered the data and like 20 minutes after we cut him loose because it was taking so damn long it came back saying information wasn't sufficent etc and I couldnt find ANYTHING about it. Any ideas?

I wish.

We also have a regional lockup so we also need to run everything twice if the person is not going to be bailed out plus we need to do a Q1 for them. then there are 2 sheets that need to be filled out for them. I try and do it so the officer can get going as soon as he/she is done booking the person.

Q2 One's, AM CC and CERT are functions on the LEAPS/CJIS systems. Q2ONE will give you info on MV, owner of MV license, BOP summary and matching warrants. AM CC is a certified copy of a REVO/SUSP license, and CERT is a certified copy from the registry of a REVO/SUSP MV. There good helpful tools.

Re: Arrest paperwork/LEAPS

Kinda off topic here but, When I came to this dept about a year ago one of the officers that use to be a state police dispatcher has created a cheat sheet, well more like sheets. It is very useful and I keep it next to the LEAP puter every time I am working. It has a lot of useful stuff that is used most often. and then we go to that big but when we need to enter in things like stolen MV, missing person and so on.

For arrests:

Q2 ONE (if vehicle is involved)
Q2 BOP (without a vehicle)
BOP (even if they do not have a history)
WMS1 (and LW if we hit any)
Q5
QH (and QR if we hit any)

I always run a Q2 BOP when an officer requests a check; Q2 ONE if they call in a plate. They both seem to be the most efficient ways to do business... anyone have any other thoughts?

*******FROM THE NEWS FILE********

Please be advised that within the past 2 weeks, we have AGAIN learned of 2 situations where a parole violator has been in the custody of a LE agency and subsequently released, when the parole board's broadcast was not detected. In both cases the Dept queried the WMS system only without a Q2 inquiry of CJIS/NCIC wanted person file. :?

PAROLE WARRANTS AND DYS-ESCAPEE WARRANTS ARE NOT ENTERED INTO THE WMS SYSTEM.

I have some good "cheat sheets" in MS Word. I can e-mail these to anyone who PM's me.

I have them laminated to our front desk in front of the CJIS terminal and I have the BOP codes translation laminated to the booking desk. I also have the 2-digit state codes and 2-digit plate codes in a narrow column on each side of the CJIS monitor. I have all of these in Word so they can be printed and cut out when needed.
