I have been looking into alot of departments out of state and noticed most of them work a 10 or 12 hour shift. I cannot think of 1 PD department in Mass that work a 10 or 12 hours shift. Am I correct on this??? If i am, why not, the extra time off out ways the longer work day. On 10hr shift you get 25% more days off a year and a 12hr shifts gives you 1/2 the year off. :D :?:

The FLA department I work for, patrol works 11.5 hrs shifts. When I worked the road I loved the shift. We worked 2 week work schedules. You would work Mon-Tues, off Wed-Thrus, work Fri-Sat-Sun, off Mon-Tues, work Wed-Thrus, off Fri-Sat-Sun. You end up working only half the year. Every other week you only work Wed-Thurs. You do have ALOT of time off. We also received an extra 8.5% for working the 11.5 shifts. The department is very busy so the time went by quickly, I imagine it would be a long day if you worked in a slow agency.

Stay safe!!
