Fall River -
A man, claiming to have a bomb, probably never expected a former school mate to be a teller at the bank he allegedly robbed Thursday.
Justin Davis, 26, of 47 Walnut St., Tiverton, was apprehended at his home by Tiverton police after the holdup around noon at the Sovereign Bank in the Harbour Mall, 430 William S. Canning Blvd.
He is scheduled to be arraigned today in Newport District Court on a fugitive from justice charge. He was arrested on a Fall River police warrant, charging him with armed robbery.
Fall River police spokesman Sgt. Paul Bernier said the suspect approached a teller's window and dropped an envelope on the counter that read in part, "This is a holdup ... I have a bomb. Two minutes."
Bernier said another teller recognized Davis from past schools they attended but did not acknowledge knowing him until after he left the bank.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money, ran out of the bank, across Canning Boulevard and jumped into a car that headed toward Tiverton, Bernier said.
Getting the suspect's name from the teller who recognized him, Fall River police searched several addresses in the city, subsequently developing the Tiverton address, Bernier reported.
Fall River police gave the address to Tiverton police who went there and arrested Davis.
