Brother got one in the mail. Apparently he’s in the low 100’s for this class, so provided he doesn’t screw anything up in the process, he might be going somewhere with it.
The longer that list stays active, the more people they’ll have to run through. I was just talking to someone in our recruiting division the other day. They told me if it wasn’t for the 2022 exam, they would be well on their way to exhausting 75% of the list for the next class off that 2021 exam.

Plymouth is putting two classes through MPTC, Randolph has one coming up, Reading has two classes for 2022 for some reason too.

WMass has two classes scheduled. I don’t know how that works, I’m guessing just all the small towns in western mass do the academy together?

Yeah he’s in WMA, and the Western MA academy is used by basically every agency out there, including the bigger ones like Springfield, Chicopee, and Westfield. Of course even out of that list, Springfield is the only one with a population over 100k, so they’re not huge agencies.

Interesting, wouldn’t have guessed Springfield mixed with other academies.

Springfield does not. Springfield has their own academy and all Springfield officers attend it. When space is available they will take a few recruits from places like Chicopee and Holyoke etc.
You’re right on that. For some reason I thought Springfield used the WMA academy too. I haven’t lived up there for quite some time though. Google proved me wrong though.

Is there a class or training that can help prepare you for the R88TT application process?
Just run a lot and get comfortable with standing in lines and staring at the back of other peoples heads. That’s like 90% of the process. The rest is just hoping you pass the psych exam, key word there is “hope” because it’s the equivalent of flipping a coin.

Hey at least you all up there don’t have to deal with the voodo box, AKA polygraph. Somehow I managed to “pass” one pre-employment polygraph given by the State Bureau of Investigation one day, then “fail” a pre-employment for a city PD the next day, despite being asked exactly the same questions. I’d been a sworn cop for five years and the polygraph examiner from the city told me that I’m a liar and don’t deserve to be a cop there or anywhere else, then got all upset and cursed me out when I told him “good, because after this I don’t want to work for this shithole anyways”.

What’s the deal with the psych exam?
Bit of a crap shoot. 80-85% of people don’t have a problem from it, but there’s always a chunk of people who get tripped up by it. Completely normal, rational people, but whether it’s them overthinking the answers or something else they fail it. My advice is always this, go with your gut instinct on the psych exam, don’t overthink it, those are usually the people who trip up.

Heard from a reliable source that I know with the State that MSP will be on the 2023 Civil Service exam. So if you haven’t heard back for the 87th or 88th RTT.. you’re probably going to need to take the 2023 Civil Service exam. Now... I should caveat that by saying I don’t know if they are going to use the list for the 89th RTT or not.

Civil Service exam’s are in March now, 88th RTT process is probably looking like a December or January start, so they may wait for the 2023 CS exam list to establish itself or they may try to squeeze one more class in off the last exam, that much I don’t know..

But MSP will be on the 2023 exam, that I can tell you.

The MPTC NECC Methuen/Haverhill Academy is putting through three classes this year as well.
