ASHLAND -

Police are investigating a break-in at the Ashland Fish and Game Club last week that left the establishment short about $7,000.
It was the second burglary at the Ponderosa Road club since last year.
This time, someone apparently used a ladder to climb through a second story window, jimmied open an office door and stole cash from a safe, Police Lt. Richard Briggs said.
A manager discovered the money was missing while opening the club early on Monday, Nov. 3, he said.
In May 2007, someone pried open the front door, smashed another door to an office and stole cash and some other items.
Bruce Buchan, bar manager at the club, declined to comment yesterday while the police investigation is pending.
The burglary happened late last Sunday or early Monday, Briggs said. Police are interviewing employees and patrons who attended parties at the club in the couple of days before the break-in.
The club also has a card entry system for members to use its shooting range after hours, and police are seeking a list of people who entered the building around the time of the burglary, Briggs said.
Investigators lifted fingerprints from the scene, Briggs said.
There were no signs of damage to the window, suggesting it was unlocked, but officers found pry marks on the office door, Briggs said.
The safe was open when officers arrived, and police are investigating if the thief or thieves broke into it or if it had been left open.
In a twist that happened during the last break-in, too, the burglar removed wires from the club's camera system, leaving behind no footage of the crime.
