3rd California Highway Patrol Officer This Month

Officer Justin McGrory was killed by an errant driver in the Barstow, CA area in the early hours of Sunday, 27 Jun 2010. He was the son of retired CHP Sergeant Bob McGrory. RIP Justin!

On June 27, 2010 at approximately 0338 hours, Barstow CHP Officer Justin McGrory, ID 18606, was on a traffic stop on N/B I-15 south of Hodge Road, when he was struck by an unrelated errant vehicle N/B on I-15 that for unknown reasons veered off of the roadway and struck Officer McCrory on the right side of the patrol vehicle. Officer McGrory was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Apple Valley, where tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Notification has been made to Officer McGrory's wife and to his father, retired CHP Sergeant Bob McGrory. Assistant Chief Webb is the currently serving as the incident commander at the collision scene and Chief Talbott is at St. Mary's Hospital. Commissioners Farrow and Santiago are en route.
