Best story I EVER heard about old uniforms was from a local university cop. They were changing over their uniform and the old ones were simply being thrown out. A sergeant simply took all the old shirts and put them into a trash bag and tossed them into a dumpster. Ok, that's reasonable. The only catch, some homeless guy, sorry, UNHOUSED (the new term 🙄) found them and the next thing they knew, there were several guys walking around in old department uniform shirts. The scramble to get them back was on.

I can't verify this story, I got it from a cop from that Department,several years ago and no way in Hell do I blame the Sgt. who tossed them, who in the HELL would expect THAT to happen?!?!?!?

I decided to NOT name the department because some folks might overreact to a situation that NO ONE could expect and is a product of human nature.

I've seen a few guys at the 112 Southampton shelter wearing almost brand new Blauer jackets in the winter so that doesn’t surprise me too much.

Were the patches still on them? They were at that university. Otherwise, no one would have given a damn.
