Three boys playing together in a parking lot at Academy Homes Projects in Roxbury were sprayed with gunfire last night by a shooter who police sources said was moments later shot as he raced back to the Bromley Heath Housing Development.
Police said the boys aged 10, 11 and 12 were hit in the legs and one was struck by a bullet to the hip as they played in a parking lot at Academy Terrace at about 8 p.m.
All of the boys are expected to survive.
Police said the gunman ran up to the top of a hill near the shooting scene, positioned himself between two buildings about 20 yards from the boys and and opened fire, spraying a volley of several shots into the group. Police said it appears he did not target anyone, but shot at random.
The alleged shooter, who was shot in the foot, is in his early 20s and has not yet been identified. He was hospitalized.
Family members of the 11-year-old boy declined to comment at Boston Medical Center last night, saying they were too distraught.
Several people inside Academy Homes said they were too shaken up to discuss the shooting.
Academy Homes has been roiled by violence for years. On a Saturday night in May, a 22-year-old Roxbury man was shot dead there near a crowded courtyard.
There were 250 shootings as of Oct. 15 in Boston, down slightly over last year. There have been several high-profile cases involving young people and gunplay, including a 4-year-old shot in the stomach while he sat on his family's back porch in August, and a 7-year-old shot in the back in July. Both those boys survived.

Alleged gang kingpin a potential suspect in shooting of 3 kids

The Roxbury teen who police call "a potential suspect" in the shocking weekend shooting of three children is an alleged gang kingpin forced to wear a GPS anklet so cops can keep tabs on his travels.
Dominique Finch, 19, whom prosecutor Matthew Feeney labeled an "impact player" in Jamaica Plain's Bromley-Heath housing project, has not been charged with the nonfatal shooting of the boys, ages 11 and 12, Saturday night in the Academy Homes development.
At Finch's arraignment on a marijuana possession charge yesterday at Boston Medical Center - where he is nursing an unexplained gunshot wound to his left foot - Feeney told Roxbury District Court Judge Edward R. Redd there has been a "historic feud" between the two projects.
Handcuffed to his bed, Finch is now forbidden to go near Academy Homes. Redd revoked bail on a prior drug case because Finch also allegedly ventured into Bromley-Heath Saturday.

Teen Charged In Shooting That Injured 3 Children

17-Year-Old To Face Charges

BOSTON -- A Jamaica Plain teenager was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a shooting that injured three children.

Jermell Robinson, 17, was accused in Saturday's shooting outside 68 Academy Terrace in Roxbury that happened at about 8:10 p.m. When officers arrived, an 11-year-old male was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to police. The victim was taken to the Boston Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

While on scene, officers were informed that there was a second victim in need of attention in front of 12 Slayton Way. Officers responded to that location and located two additional victims -- 12-year-old male, who was taken to the Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, and an 11-year-old male, who was transported to Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injures.
Robinson is being charged with assault by means of a firearm, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and carrying a loaded firearm on a public way.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Roxbury District Court
