Gamael Fleury appears today during his arraignment on charges of assault and battery and robbery of a 73-year-old woman.

A 73-year-old Roslindale woman who had just voted was allegedly mugged and beaten up yesterday by a 19-year-old street thug who can only be described as a "coward," according to the district attorney.
"It's despicable," said Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley today. "This conduct is simply appalling."
Gamael Fleury was ordered held on $25,000 cash bail today following his arraignment in West Roxbury District Court. Prosecutors allege he and an accomplice allegedly grabbed the woman from behind as she walked on Denton Terrace at 6:10 p.m. He allegedly pushed her to the ground, choked her and stole her purse, police said. He was also ordered held in custody on a probation violation.
The woman, who is now terrified, was returning from voting.
She suffered serious injuries in the attack including a broken shoulder, scrapes and possibly a broken foot.
"She is scared to leave her home," prosecutor Alissa Goldhaber told Judge Mary Ann Driscoll.
Fleury is charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery on a person 60 or older.
An off-duty police officer heard the woman's cries for help and went outside to assist the woman, who gave him a description of her attackers, Conley said. The officer broadcast the description on his police radio, while at the same time a neighbor noticed two men trespassing in his back yard and followed them until he saw a police officer.
Fleury was arrested and positively identified, Conley said. His accomplice is still on the loose. The woman's purse was recovered in a nearby recycling bin.
Fleury's defense attorney, Neal Connolly, questioned the witness identification of Fleury and asked a judge to set his bail at $200. Fleury is a high school graduate who lives at home with his mother, he said.
Driscoll ordered Fleury held on a probation violation and set his bail on the new charges at $25,000 cash.
Fleury has a criminal history that includes arrests for larceny, unarmed robbery and trespassing, records reveal.
