CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A police officer is supposed to be someone who protects the community and someone you can trust. But Chicopee Mayor Michael Bissonnette said that was no longer the case for one long-time police officer.
Joshua Mozeleski's twelve year career with the Chicopee Police department came to an abrupt halt when Mayor Bissonnette fired him. It all started last November during a late night traffic stop involving a female driver.
"Her allegation essentially said the officer stopped her early in the morning. In return for some type of conduct he would let her go," said Mayor Bissonnette.
Since there were no witnesses, Mayor Bissonnette said this would normally be a typical "he-said/she-said" situation which would result in a five day suspension.
Mayor Bissonnette told 22News the police officer wasn't fired for this alleged incident but instead Mayor Bissonnette believed he lied during his testimony.
We went to Mozeleski's home to find out his side of the story, but once we told him we were from 22news he just shut the door. His termination still isn't a done deal, an appeals process is underway.
