NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - New Haven police say they have arrested two men and are looking for a third suspect in the killing of a University of Connecticut student last month.
Officers charged 19-year-old Anthony Johnson of Hamden with felony murder and other crimes Sunday night in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old Vladimir Voinov in New Haven's Fair Haven neighborhood.
Twenty-4-year-old Akeem Gayle of New Haven was charged with similar crimes on Friday, and police say they are looking for 20-year-old Nicholas Newton of New Haven.
Johnson and Gayle are due in New Haven Superior Court on Monday morning.
Voinov was preparing to enter his senior year at UConn and had graduated from New Haven High School in the Community.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - New Haven police say federal marshals have arrested a suspect in the homicide last summer of a University of Connecticut student.

Authorities say Nicholas Newton was arrested Wednesday in Fort Myers, Fla., after a high-speed chase.

He is awaiting extradition to Connecticut.

Newton was wanted on a warrant charging him with felony murder, robbery and other charges.

Two alleged accomplices were arrested in 2008 and await trial.

The men are charged in the Aug. 21 shooting death of 21-year-old UConn student Vladimir Voinov, who was killed in a New Haven home.

Police have said he went there to sell marijuana and was killed in a robbery attempt by his prospective customers.
