Some 20 police officers making special "end of summer" patrols throughout town arrested 11 people over a 10-hour period Friday.
The special police operation included multiple motor vehicle stops and sweeps with warrants of several homes.
Police reported that the extra patrols, using regular duty officers and others called in, made 65 separate motor vehicle stops for vehicle infractions ranging from equipment violations, speeding, stop-sign violations, expired inspection stickers and erratic operation of a motor vehicle.
Rockland detectives working with canine officers and the state Department of Corrections conducted the warrant sweeps of a number of homes and arrested three residents they found at home.
Of the 11 total arrests, three were warrant arrests, seven were arrests for on-sight criminal violations and one was for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Chief John Llewellyn said Rockland's special enforcement action was one of many throughout the state this Labor Day weekend - traditionally a time for "the last big hurrah of summer."
State police also had special patrols stopping drivers and looking for alcohol-impaired drivers.
