Having served 68-71. I never heard this quote. I love it. It says it all. There was never in my life I was more proud. Even after 42 years there are things that still stick in my daily life.:smug:

"It's totally impossible to figure out who the Marines are on this website..." That's because we are so low key and do not tend to brag about it.......Not!

Happy Birthday USMC Even with all of the high tech in todays armed service we still are going to need boots on the ground and I'm sure, there will always be a Marine marching up to do the job. "We need men on that wall" Thanks for being there.

I often wondered why Navy vessels always had Marines onboard. An Airforce friend told me it was so the sailors had somebody to dance with. Happy "B" Day USMC. "oohrah".

Happy Birthday - Thanks for your service - God bless.

In 1962 I was walking down Broadway in South Boston
(probably hooking school) when I ran in to a friend of mine
who said he was going to South station to join the Marines.
For any of you that ever went in to that little Kiosk by
South Station All of the services had recruiters in the same
    little building.
My friend and I were coaxed with promises of "pick your career field",
" live in rooms rather than tents", "excellent food" by an Air Force recruiter.
We were 17 - it sounded good.

Although I would not trade my time in the Air Force as it was excellent,
knowing many guys both on and off the job that are Marines it is one of my
few regrets that I never got to share the bond they have.

My apologies. You're right... THERE'S STRONG, AND THEN THERE'S ARMY STRONG

However, had I listened to your ARMY over the years, you first wanted everyone to BE ALL THAT THEY CAN BE... followed by
the outrageous request for every soldier to be AN ARMY OF ONE???
One? Is that all you need now... really? Don't you know that the Chinese have a million-fackin-man-Army? You guys may be good, but seriously, get over yourselves already, wtf? :whatchutalkingabout

So which one is it? Could you please just make up your minds and have one motto??? You know that us Jarheads are a little slow on the uptake, and it don't take much to obfuscate (I borrowed that word from the Army ) the issue.

While I wait, I'm going back to celebrating what some of us refer to as the 235th birthday of the Men's Dept. of the Navy! :beer_yum: *burp**hiccup*... Aye-Aye?

I saw Stripes and went down to the recruiting station. I didn't care if they were singing the Sesame Street theme song in the commercials, I wanted in.
