Valid point. The last available contract to view is here https://www.needhamma.gov/DocumentCenter/View/2383 There was a 1 year 3% extension through 6/30/20 viewable here https://www.needhamma.gov/DocumentCenter/View/21352 Top step patrol is $70,000. Additional 4.5% for EMT, full Quinn if you were originally appointed before the 2009 cut off date. For those after, 7.5% Associates, 15% Bachelors or higher (in approved degrees). Night diff is 2.5%, 4%, 5.5%, and 7% depending on which schedule you work. Loads of details pretty much year round. Any questions let me know.
A new station shouldn't really matter. Unless you're administration, a good cop, should only be inside the station to write reports and process prisoners.
I disagree. I've worked in a new station and an old one and I would take the new one all day long. It was nice to have a good sized gym and an actual break room. To speak to your points it was a lot better to have a report room with ample space and plenty of computers and to have a modern, safe booking area. My current station is outdated, cramped and unsafe.
I don't either. Don't be a station sloth. I would be far more concerned about the starting pay, time off, detail opportunities, upward mobility, than what kind of station they have.
At my department you have to request permission to return to the station. Unless it's for an arrest, report, meal break , authorized gym use or to take a shit, your ass is going back on the road. The station isn't a club house.
My department built a new station several years ago. It's already falling apart and the department has outgrown the facility.
However, I am not going to hijack this thread. Good luck to those that lateral over.
Sorry you work for a bunch of control-freak micro-managers. My department trusts me to carry weapons and make arrests without special permission, they also trust me enough to decide if I can go back to the station.
Meanwhile....we're still looking for quality lateral applicants.
