Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in criminal justice or related field of study. Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Six years of progressive supervisory leadership experience in law enforcement or public safety is required, including five years of operations management and personnel supervision. Experience with higher education institutions highly desirable.
- Must have successfully completed a Police Academy in order to comply with the requirements of the Massachusetts State Police Special Officer certification.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures with a strong commitment to Regis' mission and goals.
- Ability to recognize departmental and university-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment.
- Ability to conceptualize and operationalize goals and objectives for the Department.
- Working knowledge of modern police procedures, practices, and equipment including computers and communications equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to establish positive public relations for the Department and to interact with a wide variety of people.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of police rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
Must possess and maintain the following:
- Certification as a sworn police officer.
- Current valid driver's license with excellent driving record.
- Current license to carry firearms
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, Basic Life Support, and First Responder.
- Must be able to successfully complete a field training program.
- Willingness to complete specialized training in policing and a willingness to utilize those skills within the department.
- Normal office environment but may be subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
- May require strenuous periods of physical activity: climbing, bending, standing, and lifting.
- May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
