How many of you have been hit with pepper spray by tour own guys? I just got spayed in the eyes from about 8 inches away by one of my own guys. It was great I looked up and saw the pepper spray can just before being blasted then I heard SPRAY! Oh well I didn't have to do the paperwork for the arrest.
they mentioned yelling "spray" at in-service this week and honestly forgot about it . guess when your on the bottom of the pile anything can happen
That's the main reason why I hate that stuff when theres a group of good guys. Seems like there's always more collateral damage than its worth.
I think I got over spray from the old tear gas so many times I became immune. Pepper spray thats another story. Couple of years ago I was struggling with a suspect but the two of us were getting him under control when the third officer showed up I asked him not to spray but he did anyway. Evidently the third officer was downwind and got a ton of spray in his eyes. He had to go to the hospital and have saline drip contacts in his eyes. Should have listened to the old guy. I would have been alright till the well meaning FD tried to wash my eyes out with water, reactivating the pepper. Good times had by all.

We had an older Sergeant who was shaky both literally AND figuratively, and during a melee in a stairwell managed to hit all 7 cops but not the suspect...then complained that WE were being too rough with the POS!
I had to have the saline drip contacts put in and they used 2 bags of saline to flush out all the shit. I ended up with a scratched right cornea. Thankfully everything turned out good. The guys was all jacked up and out of his mind.
Your pain and suffering could have been avoided if you had been wearing some prescription duty goggles.
I've been sprayed twice by my own peoples and it sucks. One time it couldn't really be avoided and the other time the person I was working with just didn't listen to me saying no spray and did it anyways.

I never understood the short burst principal. If I am spraying some one, I am spraying them. I am hosing them down.
Been hit a couple of times by friendly fire. Three words for you guys : Johnson's Baby Shampoo. Tell your local EMT's to start carrying it or carry some in your cruiser bag.
I've found that cold milk is very effective, it's just messy. I tell the people I work with that if someone squares off or resists arrest, you better get behind me, because I'm blasting them. I'm getting too old to roll around with these idiots anymore.
