Antwoin Moore, 27, of Brockton is arraigned in Brockton District Court still wearing his hospital gown on Monday. Moore is charged with manslaughter after leading police on a chase that ended with an eight-vehicle crash. Maryanne Kotsiopoulos, 49, of Brockton, an innocent bystander, was killed.
BROCKTON —
Friday wasn’t the first time Brockton police chased Antwoin Moore. State police last year pursued Moore, the driver in a crash that killed a Brockton woman during a police chase on the city’s East Side late Friday afternoon.
On Friday, Moore collided with a car driven by Maryanne Kotsiopoulos, 49. She was pushed into oncoming traffic at the intersection of Centre and Quincy streets and killed. Five other vehicles were involved in the horrific collision, and several people were injured.
‘‘He knew exactly what was going on,” said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. ‘‘He proceeded through a red light and killed a poor, innocent, helpless woman.’’
In 2011, at about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 21, state police tried to stop Moore as he drove a car with dark-tinted windows at Main and Lawrence streets, court documents show.
Moore had sped through a stop sign. He continued driving after a state police cruiser put on its emergency lights to stop him, court documents show.
