    Winchester Q4355 ammo.
The FBI is working with Winchester on a potentially serious condition affecting all recently
    produced .40 S&W, Winchester, Q4355, 180grain, Bonded SERVICE ammunition.**Some of the
cartridge casings were produced without a flash hole.**This condition completely eliminates
the ability of this Service cartridge to fire – this is a “silent killer” in that no visual inspection by
FBI personnel can detect this manufacturing defect and it would only be known at the time the
Agent attempted to fire their handgun. A limited number of problems have been reported
however this is such a dangerous condition immediate action across the FBI is necessary.

Affected ammunition will have a four character “day code”, two letters, two numbers, i.e., FA
    42. All Q4355 with day codes beginning with the letter F and any Q4355 with the two letter
combination of EN are included in this recall.
This ammunition must be removed from FBI service weapons and magazines IMMEDIATELY.

Again, boxed ammunition with the following codes must be removed from service
    IMMEDIATELY:
    Product Code: Q4355
Day Code: Any code beginning with F or EN

I gave up on Winchester over a year ago, the quality has really dropped in to the crapper.

Never had any issues with Winchester Ranger T series. Never had a single malfunction and the rounds that I have seen that were recovered from deer that were put down after being hit by cars shows the bullets performed as designed. I usually shoot about 3 deer a year with my .40 and most of the time one shot gets the job done. But I bet the stuff I am carrying has most likely been in the armory for a few years.

Just bought some 9mm Ranger T today actually. My personal opinion is that it is popular because it's CHEAP compared to a lot of the other options out there (instead of Gold Dot or HST being $32 a box, the Ranger T is $22 a box in 9mm) and it's still good ammo.

I had to purchase a box of Gold Dot 9mm duty last week for my new pocket-rocket. My asshole is STILL in spasm from the $32.00 price for 50 rounds.

Yeah, but compared to the 20 round boxes of Gold Dot that most gun shops have for around $20+ a box, the 50 round boxes are a bargain...plus you can usually use it for all 3 mags. :)

Do I need the bonded rounds? No, not really - but I wanted to get something that is a proven performer and similar to what the local departments use and issue. The other benefit is that I reload and can buy the Gold Dot bullets as reloading components, so I can effectively practice with what I'm carrying when I want to.

Shit ammo is getting expensive. Never had to buy the Ranger stuff. Every time I shoot a deer I go to the armourer and ask for more rounds. He askes me how many and just say I don't know just give me a box. ;) I think I still have some Ranger SXT that is black

    Haha awesome!

For a 49 round profit, I'd be aiming for bambi with my sled...

I remember buying WWB 100 packs from WalMart for $15 not so long ago (2006ish). It's double that now.

Wally world in NH still has 100rnd white box (when available) for 23.99, and over seen Federal 100rnd for 19.99.

hoarding the extra 5-10 round at the end of each qual, and loading with cheap range crap for the practice round nets me about a box and a half of gold dot twice a year on the arm. Got about 10 boxes stored at all times.

I started making the pilgrimage to Walmart in Salem in late 2006 for the WWB. I think they were 13.98/100 in 9mm when I started buying them, and I was getting the .40S&W for 17.98/100.

I still have some left. ;)

My father has a bunch of old ammo, seeing the prices on the boxes is like seeing pictures of gas stations advertising 98 cents a gallon.

Hell I found a couple of old boxes of Winchester bird shot from when I moved out here from MN in 1999. It's literally half price and it was from Mills Fleet Farm. :)

That's how they get you....make it unaffordable. It's perfectly lawful for someone with a clean background to own a Class III machine gun, you just have to jump through a bazillion hoops and spend a holy fortune. Not many can afford it.

I'm actually considering opening a store. I'm thinking ammo, reloading supplies , and hunting/fishing gear. Maybe sell guns when I get it off the ground.
