Great additions while I slept this rainy day away. Wish I could post pix of some of my old toys. The main one would be recognized by many here and I'm not willing to give up my anonymity THAT easily. I will post my dream car wish though. If I hit the lottery, I'll have a hard and rag top.
Gotcha. My mother had a 68ish that she bought new and held onto for almost 20 years. I remember riding around in the back of the beast as a kid and burning my butt on the vinyl seats and getting sick from the gas fumes.
While they were finiky it's a much rarer find and more $$$. Shortly after it's intro to NASCAR, they were banned from the sport because no other manufacture could build a motor that would touch it. If I ever win the lottery, my Garage Ma-hall will have a 71 Hemi Cuda along with a 69-70 Dodge Charger RT and 69 Camaro SS/RS in the stable amongst other cars. What did it have for tail lights? If they were square, it was a 67. The 68 had the 3 round ones on each side. Both times the cars got shipped out was because the old man got laid off and he needed the money. The hear breaker was about a year and a half after selling the 68 Impala SS Fastback, the old man found it in one of the local bone yards. Apparently, the kid he sold it to took the car off road and totaled it. (Frame bent in half in the middle and other damage. This was back in the mid 80's. I swear the kid thought he could drive like he was Bo and Luke Duke and took the car jumping)
I'm pretty sure it had the 3 tail lights, but I was about 7 when she got rid of it, so I'm not sure. She was having some sort of major issue that she had thrown a bunch of money at, and she ended up being pissed that the guy who bought it finally ended up getting it fixed for relatively cheap. Sad story on the old man's car. To this day I still wonder if my mother's car is on the road or not.
Your dad should have been given the opportunity to "discuss" the importance of being responsible with the kid after seeing that.
I'm a diehard Ford fan, but I love the simplicity of the Roadrunner with the simple interior and steelie wheels..all with 440 cubic inches of America
Invert (look it up Snipey) the colors and I had one just like this: 68 RS/SS. Damn I miss that car...

I wish I still had my 69 roadrunner (383, auto). It was stolen twice and finally totaled after a high speed police pursuit in 1974. Bastards!
The 383 was no slouch.....the first Adam-12 cruisers were the 1968 and 1969 Plymouth Belvederes with the 383 auto, and they were rockets.
Mine was stock except for the headers. It went like a bat out of hell. That's in a straight line, of course.
The originals had a 427 cubic inch "side oiler" with 575hp and they weighed less than 2,500 pounds......wrap your mind around that. They are so insanely fast, they're able to keep up with a crotch rocket;
Funny, I actually had one try to keep up with me when I had a crotch rocket. Guy came pretty close too. Had a supercharged 302 in his, definitely not a 427.
They ruined that car with thoses foolish "Dubbs" . I'm surprised it doesn't have a fart can on it to boot.......
That is an amazing car. I am doing a '67 like that currently. Seeing that makes me feel like spending some time in the garage.
