DENTON, Texas – A North Texas middle school principal is accused of placing a hidden video camera in a locker room during her daughter's high school basketball game to see how much the coach yelled at the players.
Wendee Long, 46, was indicted by a Denton County grand jury last week on two felony charges: improper photography or visual recording, and unlawful interception, use or disclosure of wire, oral or electronic communications -- what's commonly known as wiretapping, said assistant prosecutor Jamie Beck. The improper photography charge carries a punishment of 180 days to two years in a state jail, and the wiretapping charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
Long turned herself in this week, and jail records show she was released after posting $25,000 bail.
Her attorney, Daniel Peugh, said his client has not violated any law and will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

I feel like there were different ways to approach this..

    I don't think it's ever a great idea to put a camera in a locker room.....what a dope.

You mean like talk to the coach or athletic director about your concerns? One of my girls had an issue with one her coaches and the "helpers" she brought with her. (One of whom told our girls that they should be able to do xyz stunt while cheering because she did it and she was pregnant at the time.) The coach ignored my daughter's concerns that these "helpers" were bullying some of the girls and that they did not exactly promote the values of the school, so she went to the athletic director. The AD wasn't able to solve the problem, so she took it to the assistant headmaster. Problem solved. No need to stick a camera in the girls' locker room.

Right, using your "chain of command" (for lack of a better term) and trying to solve problems at the lowest level!

I think we all expected this headline to have a much different ending. I guess that's an improvement.

A coach who yells at their players?

That isn't exactly unprecedented in human history......
