Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the process or if there is an upcoming training academy soon? I tried to search thier site but had no luck finding the answer I was looking for. They just had the CO/Jail position under the hiring/careers section.

My friend got invited to take the written exam August 13 with the PAT following in September. He was told that they are looking at a November 8th start date for the academy.

I took the exam wednesday. They said they're trying to get 2 academies through.

Is the running part for the PT test done on a track or treadmill?

I have a friend who works in the house in suffolk, keeps telling me to apply then in the same breath tells me how much it sucks, co's ratting on co's, always being "watched' on the cameras waiting for you to mess up..... then there's the High Sheriff herself....giving more rights to the inmates than the people she "trusts" to guard them.....

My father works there and he says the exact same thing

The running portion of the PAT is done on pavement in Chelsea at the academy

Hope I hear something soon. I sent my app about 3 to 4 weeks ago.

Do the sweatpants for the academy have to be elastic bottom or open bottom?
  15. Foxy85 MassCops Member

I'm guessing you got hired lol? The only sweat pants I ever used to PT in were elastic bottom....
  16. TGT1898 MassCops Member

Elastic bottom...don't go crazy, just get Hanes from Target or WalMart...you're already going to be paying a lot out of pocket for BDU's, polos, silk screens and gear

Thanks TGT1898, you have been a lot of help on the forums and Pm's. Any suggestions on where I can find the baton holder I need? I've tried a few local police supply stores in my area with no luck.

I have finally been hired Foxy, so there will be one less name signing the DOC list this go around. Have you been added to one of the cert lists yet? I'm still only showing last years list.

Not a problem. I got everything I needed from Dough Boys in Revere...there's also a Dough Boys in Dorchester. Andrea's in Quincy usually has anything you need also. It's just a leather snap with a ring attached.

Nothing yet Cecd1, but keeping fingers crossed. Congrats btw - enjoy your new career, I've had nothing but good interactions, at least with the Suffolk County Transpo guys.....

    Good Luck!
