Driver in Middleboro fatal crash had open drug case; needle found in crashed pickup.
BROCKTON —
Patrick Adams, 27, whose address on court papers was in Plympton, was arraigned on one count of possession of a class A substance (Suboxone) and one count of possession of heroin on June 26. The case had not concluded before his death.
Police have not officially made any determinations on the cause of Wednesday’s fatal crash in Middleboro, but authorities have confirmed they found a hypodermic needle and a spoon at the accident scene.
The earlier charges stemmed from an incident on May 21, when a state trooper spotted Adams and another man in a parking lot in Brockton.
The trooper, according to his police report filed in court, saw a man, later identified as Adams, show a needle and hide it when he saw the police car.
The trooper searched both men and found a bag of heroin in Adams’ pants. He also found a single Suboxone pill in the vehicle’s ashtray and two used needles, as well as a bag of new needles, according to the report.
