I've actually had good luck getting arrest warrants where there's a history of defaults, or repeat offenses of the same or a similar crime.
No, she wasn't. Though a reasonable person would expect that to come down the pike... once they find out how many trials she lied in.
Scandal ‘a total failure of the chain of command’ Fingers point to Patrick over growing crisis at state drug lboratory Photo by Angela Rowlings NOT COMMENTING: Gov. Deval Patrick refused to discuss the drug-lab scandal yesterday. The massive drug-lab fiasco is proof of a “systemic failure” in government that has jeopardized thousands of criminal cases, sprung admitted drug dealers and shaken confidence in the justice system — a full-blown crisis that can be laid at the feet of Gov. Deval Patrick, according to government watchdogs and administration critics. “It’s a total failure of the chain of command. The governor has to know his appointees are doing their jobs, and the appointees need to watch their own people,” said David Tuerck, executive director of the Beacon Hill Institute, a conservative think tank. “A scandal of this magnitude calls into the question the leadership of the governor,” Tuerck added. “It’s a systemic failure.” http://www.bostonherald.com/news/re...r_growing_crisis_at_state_drug____laboratory/
Is it me, or does it feel like all the great and powerful Oz dems are full of nothing but lies and scandal lately, and yet the sheeple just keep sticking by their side??? In the words of Pat, "This is maaaadness!" Sent from my wicked smaht DROID RAZR
C'mon Dems are our friends, they love Unions, Contracts, Bargaining, etc Or at least that's what the mantra is We had 4 Republican governors who never took a penny from us, now little Devil has cut Quinn Bill benefits AND put flagmen on the street. He'll be presiding over the largest prisoner release in Mass history (hmmm wonder how many will be out in time to VOTE) but it's always "No Comment" Allright citizens, show's over, everyone back to your lives...
I think there's more to the idiocy of having DPH handling criminal drug testing than some conspiracy at the hands of Patrick. The negligence is extraordinary in this case. From Dookhan right up the chain of command at the lab. The supervisors were far too complacent.
I'm nearly positive that topcop14 is nowhere near where I am as far as District Courts go, but some of these Clerk Magistrates have a God complex and won't issue a complaint if you can't articulate why a summons wouldn't suffice. I really miss our last CM, she would approve a warrant even if I said the Defendant no longer lived at that address with no further documentation needed. Now you have to exhaust every fucking avenue to make sure you have that right. So to sum it up, I'm going with "they suck".
Apply for the warrant......if the CM changes it to a summons and the suspect kills a family of 5 in the meantime, you can sleep with a clear conscience. IDGAF what the courts do anymore....I do my job, and it's on them to do theirs. No sweat off my back if they don't.
I do exactly as you've said, but it's still galling to know that a pencil neck sitting behind a desk knows better than I do trying to bring people to justice. Serenity in 11 years 9 months and 27 days.
Glad to see this a-hole's been locked up! I only heard a blurb on the news about "padding her resume, phony documents, etc-and thought they locked up Lie-zy Warren,, especially after one of the guys said she was an Indian
Disgraced state lab chemist takes fifth in drug case The former Department of Public Health drug-lab chemist accused of evidence-tampering was called to testify in court this morning on one of the hundreds of cases under scrutiny since the massive scandal broke. Annie Dookhan pleaded the fifth in Roxbury District Court after being called to testify in a drug case involving Shawn Drumgold — a Hub man awarded a $14 million payout for a wrongful murder conviction in the slaying of a 12-year-old girl. Drumgold’s attorney, Rosemary Scapicchio, wants a judge to dismiss his 2011 drug case because heroin and cocaine seized in the bust were tested at the Jamaica Plain lab shut down by state police last month. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/re...g_lab_chemist_subpoenaed_to_testify_in_court/
Absolute inconceivable breach of trust. The more and more we hear, the more and more it feels like she did this deliberately - not for self aggrandizing, but to show that one little Indian and wreak havoc on our judicial system. Frankly it's starting to feel like a terrorist act.
A Massachusetts state prosecutor resigned Wednesday amid revelations that he corresponded with the chemist at the center of the scandal at the now-closed state drug lab, broadening the case's already significant fallout. Posted 8 hour(s) ago More than two dozen inmates from Bristol County have asked to be freed because of the mess at the state drug lab. The Bristol County Superior Court set aside three days to hear motions from prisoners who are asking to be released from jail until the questions about the fairness of drug tests have been settled. http://www.heraldnews.com/police_and_fire/x781382736/Inmates-want-out-after-drug-lab-mess
Drug lab fiasco does not free accused killer or cat torturer Anthony Thames A convicted drug dealer awaiting trial for murder and an East Boston man serving time for torching a cat failed to get the release from jail they hoped for today in Suffolk Superior Court as a result of the ongoing scandal at a state drug after a long court review session. Judge Christine McEvoy declined to address either case during a bustling morning session at Drug Court where a steady stream of men were allowed to leave prison because the evidence that led to their drug-related criminal convictions had been handled by accused-rogue chemist Annie Doohkan, who admitted to mishandling criminal evidence at the now-shuttered state drug lab. But Anthony Thames, 29, charged with first-degree murder for the Aug. 6, 2011, shooting death of Raymond Lamar in the South End, and Luigi Epifania, also 29, who in addition to killing a cat was once locked up for beating a man with a frying pan during a drug deal, weren’t so fortunate. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/re...ller_cat_torturer_next_up_in_drug_lab_fiasco/ Lab fiasco frees probation honcho convicted of drug charges Photo by Herald file Milton Britton A retired chief probation officer sentenced in April to up to five years in state prison for trafficking cocaine on Martha’s Vineyard is already back home with his wife while prosecutors sort out whether accused rogue drug lab chemist Annie Dookhan has tainted their case beyond repair. Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael D. O’Keefe told the Herald today that Michael L. Britton Sr. is one of 17 convicted drug defendants from his district who have been temporarily sprung from behind bars since the Jamaica Plain lab scandal broke this summer and because of Dookhan’s involvement in the testing of drug samples. “We will be reviewing all the cases to determine what their fate will be. There have been no final determinations in any of them,” O’Keefe said. Still, the DA is concerned about the caliber of characters returning to the street. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/re...s_probation_honcho_convicted_of_drug_charges/
Massachusetts courts seek $8.7 million to handle drug lab crisis The state's judiciary says it needs $8.7 million to handle legal challenges to thousands of criminal cases that have potentially been tainted by a chemist accused of mishandling drug samples at a state lab. Top court administrators included the estimate in a letter sent to the administration of Gov. Deval Patrick this week. Special court sessions have been set up around the state to handle challenges filed by lawyers for defendants now serving time or awaiting trial in drug cases handled by chemist Annie Dookhan. Dookhan has pleaded not guilty to obstruction of justice charges. Prosecutors have said she told state police she skirted lab protocols and faked test results in some cases. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has asked for $15 million to deal with the crisis. http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2012/10/massachusetts_courts_seek_87_m.html Just what the taxpayers need!
