Western New England University University Police Sergeant Responsible for the direction and supervision of a group of campus police officers as assigned and participate as part of the group engaged in performing various security and police duties to provide the required protection of persons and University property. Additional duties include helping to ensure an educational environment that is conducive to learning; help maintain peace; the prevention of crime; maintain traffic and parking regulations; investigate incidents, complaints and crimes; and enforce campus rules and regulations, as well as Federal, State and municipal laws and ordinances. Candidates for this position must have completed an approved full-time Massachusetts police academy, through the MPTC or through the Massachusetts State Police SSPO academy. All candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent Associates Degree, while continuing to pursue a completed Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Degree, or a related field. All applicants must possess a valid Class D driver's license. Must be able to obtain certification in basic first aid and CPR. Must be able to obtain Special Police authority in accordance with requirements set forth by the Massachusetts State Police. Must be able to obtain a Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms - Class A Large Capacity permit in accordance with Massachusetts General Law Chapter 140, Section 131. Must be able to pass a psychological examination and psychologically supportive individual interview. Must be able to pass random drug testing. Must be able to pass a physical examination.
