I don't see obama reacting too strongly as far as taking action. Harsh words to make it look like he means it is all I expect from the White House. He and hillary were quite clear that it was a "small group of savages" and that Libya's people are government are not responsible. So they'll spend a month or so seeking out the individuals involved and then right before the election find them and "bring them to justice." Which I'm guessing will be a stern talking to followed by a hug and an apology for hurting their feelings.
While every embassy has a contigent of US Marines, DSS agents and security guards to help protect them, essentially we depend on the host nation to secure embassies, as the security elements are usually quite small. Certainly not large enough to stop thousands of people from storming it. What I want to know is why we aren't carpet-bombing Libya right now?
