Enemy At The Gates was awesome btw.

Here is the photo from Google maps, the view from the top. I highlighted the additional section. As you can see, you don't see that section on the previous photo.

And as I wrote, I told the officer "there was green light on the additional section" and he responded "there is no additional section".

Homework assignment, go get the photo of the traffic lights. And 7, in Enemy At The Gates, Vasily was a sniper. This particular Vasily can't even shoot a phot straight.

just pay the fine or appeal. If you appeal, you're going to lose anyways but everyone gets paid so it's still WINNING!

    IBTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wrong. Not 15 cars, three cars from the stop line. You can barely see the additional right turn lights even from the second car in the line. I know this cross very well and drive as close as possible to the stop line to see the lights.
I'll take the photo of this additional section tomorrow.

Here are some step by step instructions for you seeing how you can't understand us...

    1. get in car
    2. drive to intersection (within the laws, we don't want you getting another ticket!)
    3. Park care legally
    4. get out of car
    5. put on class III traffic vest
    6. go into the middle of the street and take the god damn picture.
    7. get in your car and stfu.

You sir, are a fucking moron.

So he decided to pull you over for running a red light before you even got to the light. If you were at the light, he wouldn't have been able to see you since we can't see the light from where you said he was.... when he decided to pull you over.

And why did you say additional lights? It would have made more sense saying the right lane turn only lights.

There's one in Northborough at Route 9 by Walmart. Should I google map it??
  10. 263FPD Administrator

I will actually correct my own statement. There is one such right green arrow light in Framingham Rt. 9 East at Temple St.
  11. Vasily MassCops Member

No, the officer pulled me over right after the turn. There was red light on the all lights that you can see on the photo. The officer and I were driving on the right lane, he was behind me (there was some distance between our cars). I approach the stop line, saw the green lights and continued to move.

I don't blame the officer, he was doing his job but he did a mistake. All people make mistakes (including myself for sure). But this is a critical issue for me - this is the first contact with the police in my life, I strongly believe I am right in this case. For me this is about the trust to these guys. If I lose, this means that the same thing may happen any day with my wife for example who is an excellent driver (we have a clear driving record for many many years, I drive two kids to school every day and completely changed my driving style over last years). I want to know how to protect my family when I feel that I am right.

    ---------- Post added at 11:43 ---------- Previous post was at 11:35 ----------

Thank you, I'll get all the pictures from the car because neither the officer nor I were in the middle of the street. We were at the right lane of the street.

APPEAL the freaking ticket and stop complaining. No one is perfect and mistakes are made by all. If you prove your case, worst thing that happens is you lose a day of work. If you lose the appeal, then you pay the ticket. Most first time infractions are forgiven by the insurance companies.

I have three citations on my record from way back. I was wrong and I paid them. Shit happens. Maybe you got nervous that there was a cop behind you and made a booboo.

You are asking us to be sympathetic to you and not the police officer. That is just plain silly. Why would we side with you over one of our own?

Posting from iPod + fat fingers.:redcarded:
  15. grn3charlie No! My teeth are real. See?

And there is your answer. Appeal it. It is your right.

+1. What you are really asking is our OPINION. Let's say for the sake of argument that you were to gain our OPINION in your favor. Do you really think that you are going to the appeal with "Well the guys on MASSCOPS all agree with me so it should be dismissed?" Your next post should read "Thank you all for your input. I have decided to appeal the ticket because I strongly believe I am right in this case."

This is one of the more silly threads that has been put up in awhile.
  17. 47turksinajar MassCops Member

To be honest if you do appeal the ticket... and you don't have anything ridiculous on your drivers history then you'd probably be let off... no one cares... no hard feelings unless you make them hard!

Do what you want! But you WONT TRED ON US!
  18. 263FPD Administrator

Or you could NOT appeal it and NOT pay it. Screw it. You were right in the first place. So why give in to The Man? If you ignore the problem, it will go away.

It's not like they will suspend your license or something.
  19. Deuce screw you...

To digress from the issue at hand..

I find this written comment to be at the heart of another issue. I don't know what you do for a living Vasily, and frankly I dont care. But you wrote that statement. Quite an impact statement in my opinion. Now honestly Vasily, do you think YOU would have such an impact on someone else in your job? You're accusing an officer of being wrong, making a simple mistake. Let's say, for arguments sake only mind you, he did. Look at the effect on you. Do you think if YOU made a simple mistake during the course of your job, it would have such an impact on someone else? Let's keep in mind here, traffic violations are rather simple: everything's taught to you and explained to you in simple english every where you go, on traffic signs or signals. Criminal and constitutional laws, city ordinances and by-laws, are bit more involved and sometimes, outright complex. Agreed? Are you following me? Add in the dangers of working in harms way. Still with me? If so, answer me this:

Why the fuck do you people (you, the mindless sheep of America, but especially this retarded socialist state), why do INSIST we, the lowly government employees, surrender our pay and benefits? Why do you actually think WE are bankrupting this corrupt state? Why do YOU insist WE voluntarily join a proven crappy health care system?

Remember after 9-11? I couldn't go anywhere without someone stopping me and saying thanks, they appreciate my efforts. Now I"M a union hack and a vilified gangster. You people act like we stole the food right off your plates..

And then you people have the gall coming on this site, continually berating us or asking us how you can get out of your own mistake..

Any insight Vasily??? The juxtaposition is this Vasily: you demand we give up what little we have (I assure you those high paying incomes you see in the papers are anomolies), yet you admit we have a huge impact on your lives. Should those that have such heavy influence/impact on peoples lives, be treated with such outright contempt? What do you think is going to happen when the cop working Christmas or midnight to 8 or keeps missing his child's games, etc, and receives the pay and benefits of a teenager working at McDonalds?

Not exactly. As I wrote, I have never been in such situations before. I didn't mean to ask the question "am I right or not?". I was looking more for the opinions about my ability to prove _my point of view_ in this case. I afraid to get the response like the officers are always right and I can do nothing about that or something like that. Sorry for the confusion. I was always respectful to the police, they do their job well but everybody can make mistakes. I make a lot of mistakes at my job. The question is about my ability to fix somebody else's mistakes if they happen.

If the officers on the street make mistakes on the job it can cost someone their life or their own. I guarantee they worry more about protecting the general public on a daily basis than if they have to go to a traffic hearing. As others have said you have the right to appeal it. Don't expect members on this site to run to your aid and plan your defense for you. I don't know you and I'm assuming your a fine upstanding citizen. That being said just put on a shirt and tie, go to your hearing, and plead your case in a calm and respectful manner.

Rule #1. I am always right.

Rule #2. If I am wrong, see Rule #1.

On a serious note If courts would take that stance, it would be nice indeed, but this is People's Republic of Massachusetts. In other words, when I walk in to the court room it is my job to convince the judge that it isn't me that fucked, but in fact the defendant is the one at fault. The general assumption of no wrong doing on the part of the accused is unbelievable in our judicial system, so your way of thinking is not accurate. Just because you never had contact of any kind with the Police, don't let this encounter taint you against Law Enforcement. We serve a very specific function, and sometimes things just don't end up going your way.

Let me say that I trully believe that the citation you received was not undeserved. Though you may think you did not mess up, you quite possibly did just that. I am riding with a new Officer the last several weeks. I am in the process of completing the first phase of his Field Training. Every time that I see a violation that he did not catch, he asks me how did I see it. I can not really explain it to him beyond that I have 14 years to his 14 days. In truth, my trainee might be a cop by title and the virtue of completing academy, an putting on a uniform with all of the toys that go with it, but he is essentially still a civilian in transition to becoming a cop.

He doesn't see the subtle violations, nor does he yet see all of the blatant ones. It is a matter of experience.

You drive your car to and from work, doing your best not to violate the laws for whatever reason. It could be that you have your kids with you, some people drive as safely as possible to avoid being arrested. They may have warrants, suspened license, or be unlicensed altogether. My point is, everyone ends up making a mistake and it just so happens that once in the while they get caught.

Do you think a drunk driver getting arrested for an OUI is being caught the first time that they drive drunk? Hardly. Shit happens Vasily. It is solely up to you how you handle this problem of yours.

BTW, judging by your name and and the way you phrase your posts I am guessing that you have lived in Russia or Ukraine for a good part of your life. So have I. You mean to tell me you have never encountered MVD Officers? And if you did, how do we compare in contrast? I know the answer to that question by the way, "We don't except $100.00 US on the spot, to make that ticket go away."
  24. Vasily MassCops Member

Yes, I am originally from Russia. To answer your question: the police system in Russia was absolutely horrible and worked against usual people, our US officers work to protect us - this is the key difference. Our guys are doing a great job - I can tell this for sure because I saw in the past the ugly system in Russia.

I am a very experienced person as well (I am a scientist and manage a large team of engineers). But I do mistakes (and again, the guy who stopped me, was a very nice seasoned officer and I don't blame him. I was trying to understand what should I do. My russian experience tells me "even if you right, you can do nothing, just pay". But this is exactly the experience I am trying to forget).
