I apologize if this is in the wrong section, this site is a little overwhelming with topics. For you that were former military (I have about 20 months left on active duty USAF) when did you start your application process? I realize MA has the military make up for the civil service, but I'm just looking for some procedures that some of you took that worked out well for you. I ideally want to transition from military to a career as a LEO with as little time in between as possible. Thanks for any type of advice.

You can start taking Civil Service Exams with only 24 months left in the Military. I recommend that you go take a military make-up exam ASAP. You can be hired before you even get out of the AF, but you will need a memorandum (signed of course) from your commander. Good Luck

^^^What he said......not sure if it's still done, but a lot of the police departments that hire constantly (LAPD, LASD, NYPD, etc.) will often have recruitment literature at the outprocessing stations at major military bases that explains the hiring process for people being discharged.
