HAVERHILL, Mass. -- Three Haverhill police officers have been suspended without pay following closed hearings on charges they gave preferential treatment to former high-ranking state troopers involved in car crashes. http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/local/north/12009483597667/3-haverhill-officers-punished/
Problem is that they violated department rules and regulations. At the end of the day the only people that count for me is my family I owe nothing to any drunk.
I've given breaks to borderline OUI's who were civilians with no political connections. That's called discretion, and unless someone violates a protective order or commits an obscure polling place law violation, it's my decision to make an arrest or not. If the lemmings want me to issue a CMVI or make an arrest in every single case where it's justified, then so be it. Be careful what you wish for, because you might get it.
Absolutely not but in this case you had some issues that came up and jammed the oher cops involved. http://www.eagletribune.com/haverhill/x1525001379/Demoted-sergeant-suspended-in-2011
