Photo by Matthew Healey HERO: Transit Police officer Jim Clark talked a suicidal man down from a ledge atop the Quincy Adams T station parking garage. A 19-year veteran Transit cop who talked a suicidal 20-year-old man out of jumping off the roof of an MBTA garage Saturday is being hailed for his quick thinking and calming demeanor that saved a life. Officer Jim Clark, 56, was patrolling the Quincy Adams T parking garage Saturday night, prowling for car thieves and vandals, when he spotted someone run to a railing on the sixth floor. “I knew he was upset because he was sweating, wiping his face with his T-shirt and screaming. I said, ‘Oh (expletive). He’s going to go over the edge,” Clark said yesterday. The young man climbed on the railing and sat with his back to the ground, 120 feet down. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/re...ta_cop_saves_life_of_suicidal_man_on_rooftop/
Nice job. I bet this gets less play in the comment section than the article about the T cop last week.
This is the kind of thing you can't help but like when you read it... It has to just drive reporters nuts when they write about LE in a positive manner. Solid work. I hope the bosses are good to this man.
Damn!!! If there isn't, now there will be one. Some little Boston Globe troll is reading your last post and saying to himself, "What a great idea!!! We can praise a cop, and let the public know how much he made last year all at the same time."
Hey, you know me... I have this conspiracy theory going. I also believe in X Files, Santa, and Easter Bunny, and have great faith that my contract will be settled to my union's satisfaction after four and a half years of ntohingness.
That young man doesn't know how fortunate he was that Officer Clark was there.....the Quincy Adams T station, while open regular hours like every other station, is a ghost town on the weekends, especially in the evening, as they do most of their business M-F business hours for commuters. Great job, Officer Clark!
Great, another floater that can't work cuz of depression saved.. Err, I mean great job! Damn cynicism....
I actually ran into Chief Macmillan today and congratulated his agency and his officer on the good save. He seemed to really appreciate it.
