    You're Darn Tootin it is!!!!!!!!!!
Current Chief, and a couple of officers from the class of 99' who never quit, saved it from going down the toilet. Professional cadre of officers round out a good crew.
    :)
Has to still be the PREMIER Community College department in Mass, maybe even New England. Pretty sure they are still the only armed CH.90 enforcing crew in the State CC System.
    ;)
The one and only serious dawback? SSPO Powers! How uneccessary and statutorily GAY!!!! Oh yeah, I forget, that's how they keep from re-instating two suspended officers from 06'

Woody, has anyone gone to the MEDIA over this? It could make an intersting human interest story.

The media sucks, but they CAN be useful.

Good idea - except everyone HATES cops, and the lemmings' don't understand the difference between "SSPO" and "Chapter whateverthenumberis" .

They consider fired cops rightfully fired, don't care about the injustice.

I can't see how ANYBODY in the media would give two shits about two campus cops wrongfully accused and suspended. Sad thing is ALL the adminstrators personally accountable for the screw-over are ALL retired now and laughing their evil asses off.
This happened forever ago. From what I hear the only remedy is the thankfully-still-alive impending civil jury trial for the Sergeant. Angels of mercy preserve us!

I can't see something so old as this actually getting any attention, even if the poor bastards win, it would never make the back page of the Enterprise cuz of the papers' close ties with the school.
Short of about 20 or 50 angry "citizens" like us showing up at a Trustee Meeting, with the Media present, demanding justice, this is blowing away in the wind.

When I was on the union e-board, the chief just decided one day to eliminate the 6pm-2am shift, which is specified in the contract. The chief's response was "Go ahead and grieve it".

I then went to the Patriot Ledger, which couldn't have been any further up the mayor's ass, and took out a full-page ad, which would have shown a clock with the hands at midnight, and "It's midnight. Do you know where your police officers are?" then an explanation of the elimination of the 6pm-2am shift.

While I was driving home from the Ledger building, my phone rang. It was the chief, meekly telling me that he was reinstating the 6pm-2am shift, and asking if I would pull the ad, which I did.

Sometimes you need to spend a bit of money and get creative.

When I started all new folks went 6-2. As time went along it got smaller as fewer people got hired but it was always there. Then the 'new' guy came along and and after a bit, eliminated it. It was gone for a short time (a year or two) then brought back (as though it was HIS idea) as 1830-0230. Then it slid back to being simply 6-2 and is written into the contract as "Watch 4". Then he eliminated it which caused a real problem for one of the officers on it in particular. Why, it's ALWAYS a long story.

It was grieved, we won and as the chief was being told "YOU WILL REINSTATE IT" he responed with, "Well it was in the plans all along, so sure." Funny, something's in the plans anyway but was never mentioned to US and the whole process played out before he said this?!?!? SURE, and I'll be right there to put a deposit down on that Oceanfront Property in Arizona.

It's not just 2 people. The one who grieved it and a guy who is 'looked after'. But don't take that wrong, quite a few people for one reason or another are in that somewhat safe zone but still good people who DO side with the union. It's a LONG story, but we still won.
