    Really? one more time for those who have missed the rants;

By denying CH73/s.18 and CH15A/s.22 exist, and were used by the college in 2006 when two (2) officers were suspended without cause, MASSASOIT now references CH22C/s63 SSPO to keep those officers wrongfully suspended from returning to work because the MSP Cert unit won't renew the officers warrants!

Now what should every State University AND Community College say to SSPO Powers?????

Cuz EVERYBODY should know by now that MGL CH22C/s63 is for entities like PRIVATE Schools and hospitals

Civil law isn't my forte, but dusting off the cobwebs from my days as union president, I believe that malicious actions on the part of an employer that targets certain employees invokes triple damages in a civil suit.

We're hoping for 12% interest after winning an arbitration case. Not TRIPLE damages, but if we win the whole magilla, it'll be a nice chunk of change just before Christmas.
    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG story.

    Oh, and SSPO SUCKS.

A tip of the Fez to mpd61! :D

Thanks Bruce! Maybe you and Obie can weigh in; I'm pretty certain the agents of the School violated the provisions of MGL CH268A/s.25 when they intentionally failed to re-instate the Sarge after the MSP dismissed the charges against him.

A handshake and "we're sorry" at MSP HQ Framingham wasn't enough. It would be nice if the Cert Unit folks had the guts to make it totally right by renewing the officers SSPO warrants. (Even though they don't really need them)

Civil TRIAL starts in October...I wouldn't want to be certain former officials of Massasoit then.

I have heard many of your "rants," (your words) regarding state agencies requiring SSPO powers and agree that it's not necessary. Hence the nature of my post. However, I wasn't fully aware of the unfortunate back story about Massassoit using the SSPO requirement to keep their suspended officers from being reinstated. Hopefully justice will prevail in October.

I try to be open minded. I don't know what happened in MCC and am curious. I realize this isn't the place to go over what happened or what is going on. I plead ignorance to the SSPO powers being so 'weak'. If possible, could someone direct me to where I can find information on what happened that hurt our fellow officers at MCC. I work for CC and the more enlightened I get the better for myself. I really want to know.
  15. mtc High Priestess

I think it comes down to a shitty chief, administration meddling, and a witch hunt caused by "someone" "misplacing" a firearm that wasn't lost to begin with.

I haven't seen where the MSP railroaded the wronged parties, I thought they did their investigation, albeit hampered by liars, but it was eventually found nothing was done wrong by the accused, but MCC continued/continues to push a railroading.

I could be mistaken though, I wasn't around nor privvy to the invest.

Nothing good ever seems to come from Educators meddling in law enforcement.
  16. Delta784 Acting Stupidly

If a state college/community college accepts SSPO, that places them under the control of the MSP, which isn't a big deal now, but could change if the wrong person(s) get into a position of power.

There's statutory law in MGL that grants police powers to the PD's of state universities, colleges, and community colleges, There's no need whatsoever for those institutions getting SSPO commissions.
  17. Dan Stark Tears of a Clown

The big thing for Campus Cops that they may not realize is that with Firearms Licensing being the discretionary bullshit that it is, you could have a small-town chief that is a retard (like mine LOL), and not renew you someday. You will then have you warrant YANKED because you need an LTC in possession to be a CPO. You CANNOT carry on the badge as there is no MGL to cover you for that... then... adios job.
  18. Delta784 Acting Stupidly

I don't believe there's anything in the MGL to allow state campus police officers to carry without an LTC like there is for city & town cops under 41-98 or MSP under 22C-19.

I know not of the wonders of State College authority, and should have clarified. I was just referring to SSPO.
  20. Delta784 Acting Stupidly

My point was that if you're state campus cop and your local chief is a dick that doesn't renew your LTC, then you're in a world of hurt, SSPO or not, although you're entitled to a hearing before a judge within a short time frame (3-5 days I believe) to appeal a chief's decision to deny an LTC if your employment requires it.
