I have a Sig Pro SP 2009,the magazines are the ones that can use .40S&W, .357 Sig and .9mm, which is what its chambered for now. The mags "should" hold 14 I think, however when I load TEN rnds the mags are nice and tight and no rattling, as soon as I put the 11th rnd in it sounds like there is a rnd floating around in the bottom of the mag. Also when I load the mag , rack the slide chambering a rnd then drop the mag the next rnd is nearly half way out of the mag, time and time again leading me to believe it may not cycle properly firing the gun( havent fired it yet). I was wondering if this is simply a case of needing new springs for the mags ? Anyone ever run into this?

The rattle thing isn't all that unusual; I have had new magazines do it. If you slap the magazine a few times against the palm of your hand, it will usually fix it.

At the risk of sounding controversial, The ONLY model SIG I wouldn't buy would be the SigPro...Only after seeing them perform at MPTC Firearms instructor courses.

Calling those guns sig "pro" is like calling a 6'8" 350lb thug "Tiny"

There was a reason we got rid of the sig pro's for the 229's bro. We only had them because the were less expensive, and the non gun guys could qual without the instructors actually having to take time to instruct.

    Common issue for the mags.

we have the sig pro 40 and the max capacity is 12 rounds for both 40 and .357 which is just a necked down 40 case.

don't know about loading 9mm into the same mag ( if reading the post right )

as mentioned the rattle sound from the mag is normal

i don't mind the sig pro , but then again don't shoot hundreds of rounds through one either.

I know that the .40 and the .357 sig use the same magazine. i dont know that a 9mm would use the same magazine, actually i kind of doubt it. That may be the issue with the rounds not staying in place. There should be some sort of marking on the mag itself.

The mags say Sigpro right on them as well as .40S&W and .357Sig and I have them loaded with .9mm right now so I know they do. First off I only had 500$ to spend including the transfer fee so its not like I could get myself what i wanted. I took it to the range and no issues, im definately going to order new springs though. I had been gunless for a while, had to sell all my guns due to illness and when my father found out he called me and said " Iam sending you some cash,NO son of mine is going to walk out of the bathroom with nothing but his dick in his hand" gotta love Consrvatives. I was actually happy with the performance of the firearm, its not a beast but it will do until I can get another top notch firearm.

Did you have to admit you also sold your johnson and only got a few bucks?

Just because a round physically fits in a mag doesn't mean it's going to work! I could probably fit 9mm in an AR mag - does that mean its going to work?

If you see .40 and .357 on the mag, and don't see 9mm, that mag isn't for 9mm!

Thats an interesting point....maybe it isnt meant for .9mm, but like i said i took it to the range yesterday, only put a few hundred rnds through it but no issues. Is it possible that its only meant for those calibers?

Yes. Back when I had a .40S&W Sig P229 (mags were marked .40S&W/.357SIG), I loaded 9mm rounds into the mag and they stayed in the mag.

However, I tried loading 9mm rounds into a M&P mag marked .40S&W/.357SIG and they popped right out of the top since the feed lips are spaced farther apart to accommodate the larger round. I have never heard of a 9mm mag being designed to use .40S&W/.357SIG as well and I saw that in your post, I just didn't say anything since you made it sound like the mag was marked that way.

Can you exchange it at the gun store, or if it was on consignment can you have them contact the seller?

You know I love you kid but...
    1. your $500 could have bought you an awesome used K-frame or Ruger .357 mag

The best lessons in life are the ones you get screwed on I guess. In hindsight I should have posted this thread PRIOR to my purchase. I bought it from an NESr, im outta heer to shine up my new tactical brick :(

.357 Sig and .40 S&W have the same case diameter, the 9mm does not, hence it shouldn't be used in the same magazine.

When we switched from the 9mm Sig to the .40 caliber Sig, we could occasionally see idiots loading old 9mm into their magazines. Unfortunately, because it didn't pop out, they would go on patrol with it. At least now when you load a .40 caliber in the .45 M&P magazine, it pops out immediately!
  16. pahapoika Subscribing Member

don't think you did that bad. it's a cheaper gun , but like the old man says it's better than no gun.

just don't try to shoot any 9mm out of it

Resell it bro. I picked up an m&p 9c for 325 off there. 70$ trigger job, and it's a great carry piece for $100 less than you're in for.

I have fired 9mm by accident out of a .40S&W M&P compact using 9mm mags (two identical guns). They actually fired but failed to eject and the round would go about 30 rounds downrange and impact low and about 3 yards to the left. Recoil was barely existent as well, with the obvious factor that they did not gain anywhere near the velocity or accuracy they should have since they just bounced off the rifling on their way down the barrel.
  19. Killjoy Zombie Hunter

I've actually seen that happen as well, with a Sig 239.

I also saw a guy try to load .40 caliber in his M&P .45, but as soon as he tried to chamber it, the round popped out, slid down and fell out of the barrel.

    I shoot .32 acp outta my .32 S&W Model 31 just because I can. I definately don't shoot 9mm outta my .40 though, that's kinda gay....
  21. 7costanza . . .

Not sure if you meant me , its chambered for .9mm, its just the mags that are questionable. As for mpds comment. The former Marine with 2 tours under his belt and over 30 positive sale feedbacks on the site I got it told me the mags take .9mm and after firing over 150 rnds without an issue he was correct. And no if he told me to jump off a bridge I wouldn't.
  22. william Supporting Member

So you have a sig that is chambered for 9mm and mags for 40sw/ .357 sig? I'm not trying to be a prick but why would you load the 9mm into to incorrect magazine?
  23. 7costanza . . .

Like i said, the seller told me they take .9mm also, and after a range trip he was correct. Whether or not they were made specifically for .40S&W and .357Sig ONLY I dont know. He said he used .9mm for years so maybe hes wrong.
  24. pahapoika Subscribing Member

wow , that's pretty cool if you think of it. could make for some confusion, but if sig made a mag that shoot 3 different calibers out of two different caliber guns i'm impressed

and i'm not being sarcastic
  25. Killjoy Zombie Hunter

We actually found out that, with Simunitions at least, you could load 9mm sims in a .40 caliber magazine and have it actually function in a 9mm Simunition-converted Sig. The mag will only hold about 10 though, and I would never advocate it for self-defense or duty purposes with real ammunition.

I've looked up the Sig website and other sellers and they sell separate magazines for the Sig Pro; 15-round 9mm and 12-round .357 Sig/.40 Caliber.
