I would like to know of any posters' experience that can point to any positive reforms made in Suffolk County by Sheriff Andrea Cabral. Is there less patronage than before she was elected? Is it a better place to work with less politics? I know there are a lot of positions opening up from retirements etc.I know Suffolk is under DOC now,so is entry test/academy going to be done by DOC now?
I would imagine that it's alot better for the inmates. Just curious? Are you one of her supporters? Are you possibly she herself? If not,I apologize in advance
Iam just curious to know if there is a positive or negative opinion from both the public or Suffolk employees. I guess Iam wondering if my opinion is jaded .I am looking for a subjective answers from someone who might be able to remove any emotion from their answers. I hope I answered your question, this is my first post, but have been reading MC Sheriff posts for some time.
OK. Suffolk County WILL be better when she finally leaves office. I say that with no emotion what so ever. Way I hear it, she is hoping for a judgeship.
She's a sheriff in Massachusetts. Asking if there's any political patronage is like asking if the Pope shits in the woods. Someone like her doesn't have to hope for judgeship. If she puts in for it, barring any huge political enemies on the GC, it's hers.
Yeah, not so much. It still requires an appointment. I am certain that Deval will take care of her in the long run, but she has had these aspirations for a few years now.
She has to take the first step by submitting paperwork to the JNC, which could be politically dangerous to her if she does it when she's still sheriff. My bet is that she'll be in as soon as she or Deval leaves office, whichever occurs first.
Where ever she is a judge, I hope it's far away from any of us. Just remember that she was endorsed by the Republican Governor and as soon as she took office, she declared her affiliation with the Democratic Party. There is nothing about this woman that is even minutely appealing to me.
LMFAO!!! The last thing you say is you have been reading MC Sheriff's posts for some time and yet you still ask for someone HERE able to remove emotions from their posts!!! LMFAO!!! That is THE MOST ridicules thing I have EVER read here on MC!!!!
from the few guys i've spoke with they don't seem to mind her that much. with Rufo presiding over a courtroom somewhere it's not out of the question for Cabral to get a judge's job. she's got that double , possibly triple "minority" status Black Female Lesbian
NOBODY should be running a Sheriff's Department without any experience whatsoever in corrections! Enough said!
I never worked under any other Suffolk County administration, and I have no complaints thus far. I collect a pay check every Friday, and have good benefits. With this economy that's more than anyone can ask for. As far as patronage; it exists in every Sheriff's Dept. in this state (no matter what anyone says) and I would be willing to bet it takes place in every agency (on some level) in this state, and others for that matter. It is however, not as bad as it is in other departments. Lastly, Suffolk County Sheriff's Department does not now fall under the DOC, it is being transferred to the state as far as funding goes. Moving away from the City of Boston. They will continue to hire and fire in-house, using their own tests and hiring proccess.
