Randolph was posted on the site a little over a month ago. It's saying last updated June 6, so that's probably when it was added. Obviously not much notice with this class. They posted the 2013 start date before that.
I'll post them for him, even though it's still early... Mass Millions is 2-44-48-50-52 with a mega ball of 3.
You can't rely on the MPTCs site for anything, either recruit or specialized. Full classes are listed as open, open clases aren't listed, and f/t academy dates are allll jacked up. I thought they weren't running any more Randolph classes as enrollment is down and they're equally spacing out Reading, Boylston and Plymouth academies to start every year on approximately the same week. Maybe I misunderstood the discussion in the minutes. Boylston started last monday and it wasn't full (had 44 (max is 50?), looks like one medical drop coming).
Update from MPTC website: Plymouth's September 10, 2012 Police Academy CLOSED After today's [July 26, 2012] Physical Ability Test the Academy reached its capacity with full-time police officers upon graduation. Police departments will be notified Monday, July 30, 2012 the status of their application. All non-municipal, Environmental or UMASS police departments, part-time/sponsored and sponsored applicants will need to reapply for the next available academy. The next academy scheduled is the State Police Municipal Academy [SPMA], New Braintree, MA September 24, 2012. The deadline to enroll is August 24, 2012.
Also from the website - looks like orientation for SPMA will be either 8/23 or 8/30 with the 1.5 mile running assessment on the same day.
Good looking out This is from the website: "SPMA 24Sept12 Orientation Dates There are two mandatory [by invitation only] orientations scheduled: August 23, 2012 and August 30, 2012 at the State Police Academy in New Braintree. Registration for the SPMA closes Friday, August 24, 2012. Anyone scheduled to take the P.A.T. August 23rd should take the test. All agency representatives and confirmed candidates will be notified which orientation they are required to attend. Orientation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at approximately 12:00 p.m. Each candidate shall be accompanied by an agency representative or administrator. Orientation will include such topics as: the student manual, academy expectations, overnight accommodations, the 70% physical fitness standard, required equipment, meals, questions and answers, as well as a Physical Fitness Assessment. The assessment will consist of a 1.5 mile run. This is not a test. The results of this assessment are used to assess the fitness level of the incoming candidates. Candidates should report in business attire and bring with them a change of clothing suitable for the fitness assessment. Locker rooms and showers will be available. All agencies seeking information on the Academy are requested to contact Captain Steven M. McCarthy, Academy Commandant or Sergeant Stephen C. Mullaney, Director of Training; either can be reached at (508) 867-1000. Applications and registrations are processed by Ms. Lynda Kearns of the MPTC. Ms. Kearns may be reached by E-mail: Lynda.Kearns@state.ma.us or by calling (781) 437-0306."
Well it looks like the SPMA has filled with municipal hires leaving no vacancies for self sponsors. I believe that was the last academy for this year. There's always the SSPI reserve academy
Unfortunately Bruce, I live in a non-civil service town. I've put in 7 years as a part time officer, and spent my own money on the medical and PAT, not to mention the added costs of time off, gas to travel to Hudson, etc. Sure it sucks, and I understand the guys who have full time jobs take priority. But I'll keep trying to get in, or hopefully get picked up full time at a non-CS department and then sent. Just remember that some municipal officers who work part time are also forced to self-sponsor if they want a full time job within their own department.
Hopefully helpfull? Nope. Perhaps a dictionary would be more HELPFUL at this point. Attention to detail, William...GIG!
