Gun licensing requirements vary at discretion of local police

Ron Glidden is probably the SECOND biggest Asshole in the Commonwealth! He is soooo fucked up it's beyond a travesty. And as pointed out... the fact he's a former chief and member of the Bar makes most Chiefs believe him even, though he's an anti-gun, biased, agenda-pushing, inaccurate buffoon...

Yeah, I meant in regards to the new BS Glidden was spewing about leaving your mags at work when off duty....

So what the fuck does he want me to do? Carry an empty gun home? Or just one round in the chamber? Because my locker isn't an approved firearm safety device for the entire weapon, and my dept doesn't have gun vaults for every officer.

Glidden has caused the pro 2A to move backwards about 10 years. Obviously has his eye on politics rather than police work.

He's no lawyer, as far as I know. Just some former chief who thinks he knows everything, kind of a syndrome among senior commissioned officers....

His opinions are just that, opinions. The AG's office often has far differing opinions on firearms legal matter than him. I know of many cases where a simple call to the AG's office proved Glidden wrong in his interpretation of firearms laws. The problem is that most Chief's or senior officers are so lazy, they take his word as gospel, rather than doing their own research.

After 26 years in law enforcement (the last 17 as chief of police) Ron has become a self-appointed guru on the subject of Mass Firearms Law.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the absolute LAST thing I'm going to check on a licensed gun owner is how many rounds their magazine holds. GFY Glidden.

I propose that we "loosen" local licensing restrictions as licensing officials, just to let Glidden know that we reject his interpretation of the laws.

In talking with some other officers, it seem that Glidden is a purely self-appointed "expert", who passes himself off to those too lazy or chickensh*t to make their own decisions. One person characterized him as "he's the guy who always shows up to meetings", implying he's the guy who goes on the committees no one wants to be on, and then simply bullies his agendas through people who either don't care or are too busy to actually show up to meetings. The dangerous part about this is that it gives him free reign to spread his anti-gun propaganda to senior command staff types who are too lazy to do their research on firearms issues.

I would characterize Glidden as one of the most dangerous opponent of the 2nd amendment in Massachusetts; someone with a pure anti-gun agenda, who has the ear of important decision makers and a person who will disregard law, precedent, facts and common sense to push his propaganda.

Contrast the guy to other Mass Chiefs like say Chief Hicks of Natick, or Chief Rebello of Kingston. These guys and others are on several committees. Ronnie is on one and you guessed it = Chairman of the Firearms Committee. Oh at least he does serve as a Liaison too, hmmm let's see oh surprise...The Mass Gun Control Advisory Board. What an awesome guy with a diverse and broad spectrum of involvement in such subjects as
Acreditation, Civil Service, Finance & Planning, Legislation, Technical Research, Traffic & Highway Safety, Training and Education, and another thirty (30) Liaison positions to choose from. Oh no, wait....He's only interested in Fireams as a topic. Not too difficult to paint him as a man with an agenda. Go away Ron, you're doing NOTHING for law enforcement in this state at all...
