Former top statie: FBI racket ran deep

    An explosive new book by the former head of the state police who spent 20 years chasing Winter Hill mob boss James “Whitey” Bulger details a decades-long FBI protection racket that he says went well beyond one rogue agent, and fingers a host of feds who allegedly abetted the Southie mob boss’ murderous crime spree.
    “I know I’m going to take some flak on this thing, but it had to be told,” retired state police Col. Thomas J. Foley told the Track. “It happened. It’s totally backed up and that’s just the way it was.”
    According to Foley, disgraced ex-FBI handler John Connolly, currently serving a 40-year sentence in Florida in connection with his corrupt relationship with Bulger and cohort Steve “The Rifleman” Flemmi, took the fall for systemwide coddling of the South Boston gangster, now charged with 19 murders and racketeering.

    I've seen him interviewed, I could be wrong, but I think Foley is a bit angry. Looks like quite a book.

    It's a good read. It really only covers the SP side of things. It does not delve deeply into the mechanic's of the Bulger organization, but more of how the SP went about dealing with things, particularly the interference from FBI, the US Atoorney, and the DOJ.

    I think you'll enjoy it. Like mikemac said, it really covers the MSP side of the whole investigation. Colonel Foley told me that he had so much info, he just couldn't put it into one book. Maybe another one in the making? Time will tell I guess.

    I know I've posted this before, but it never gets old;

    The local police, state police, and the FBI were conducting a K-9 demonstration to show off their dog's skills. First, the local police dog went inside a simulated house and came out with a bag of drugs in his mouth. The audience cheered. The state police dog then went in and came out with a gun in his mouth. The audience cheered. The FBI dog ran over, fucked the local & state police dogs up the ass, then called a press conference to take credit for finding the drugs and gun.

    The attorney general wants to find out who the best law enforcement agency is - the FBI, the Boston PD, or the State Police. The AG calls a group from each organization to meet her out in western MA. When they all get there, she releases a rabbit into the woods, and says to the BPD guys, "ok, go find the rabbit!".

    The FBI guys go in, and two hours later, they come out without the rabbit. Naturally, the FBI SAC holds a big press conference, and they say "we lab-tested every twig and leaf in the woods, we questioned two hundred witnesses, and we have concluded that the rabbit has not broken any Federal laws, so we let him go". The attorney general says "bulls***, you never found the rabbit."

    So then the MSP guys go in. An hour later, they also come out without the rabbit., but they say.."the FBI was wrong. We found the rabbit, and he confessed to a conspiracy. We debrieffed the rabbit, turned him around, and he's now a CI working for us. The attorney general says "bulls***, you never found the rabbit."

    So then the BPD guys go in, and 15 minutes later this bear comes stumbling out of the woods, and the bear has taken a really bad beating. He's all bloodied up, and bruised. Some of his fur has been ripped out. The bear comes out with his arms up yelling "ok! Ok I'm a rabbit! I'm a rabbit!"
